The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, together with the councilor and president of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, Francisco J. Aparicio, have received and wished good luck to the Lanzarote team that is participating in the prestigious event that is being held this year on the island of Terceira in the Azores, Portugal, and which was held in 2023 in Lanzarote.

The Lanzarote team already participated on Thursday morning, performing greatly, and will have the opportunity to demonstrate their professionalism again throughout Friday and Saturday in the Parque do Paul in Praia de Vitória.

The team, made up of firefighters Chedey Tanausú Rodríguez Quintero, Rubén Tomás Guerra Rodríguez, Roberto Iván Betancort Corujo, Yoné Echedey Martín Fernández, Acaymo José Rodríguez Quintero and Néstor Crespo Rodríguez, who came in second place in the National Rescue Meeting in Traffic Accidents held in A Coruña, will represent Lanzarote in a series of highly demanding rescue tests, designed to assess command skills, technical response and pre-hospital care in simulated emergency scenarios.

During the meeting, Betancort and Aparicio underlined the pride that Lanzarote has in having a team of such a high level and dedication, reflecting the excellence of the island's emergency services. In addition, they highlighted that the commitment and effort of these professionals contribute to the safety and well-being of all Lanzarote residents.

“It is an honor to support this team on their way to the World Rescue Challenge. We know that their participation not only strengthens their skills, but also takes the name of Lanzarote to an international platform where crucial knowledge is shared to save lives,” said Betancort.

For his part, Aparicio highlighted the effort and training that these professionals have dedicated to reach this competition, and encouraged them to give their best in each of the tests, trusting that they will represent Lanzarote with pride and professionalism.

The World Rescue Challenge, an event of international relevance, brings together emergency teams from all over the world who will compete in more than 180 rescue and trauma victim care simulations. Lanzarote's participation in this event not only reinforces the island's commitment to safety and continuous training, but also represents an invaluable opportunity for its professionals to acquire new experiences and knowledge in advanced rescue techniques.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote reaffirms its unconditional support for this team, and wishes them the greatest success in this important international competition.
