The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Lanzarote held this Friday has given the green light to the document that supports and regulates teleworking in the institution, defining "the framework of a new relationship between the administration and its employees". "It is the first step towards a new model that facilitates the reconciliation of people's personal and family life through a fully effective work system that is compatible with face-to-face activity," says the president, María Dolores Corujo.

"The digital transformation, the dialogue with the representatives of the workers and the experience that we have accumulated in the application of teleworking during this last year and a half have made it easier for us to adopt a way of providing public services that guarantees a better organization and management of work and the application of the most appropriate and effective solutions to meet the needs of the citizens of an island of the 21st century," adds the Corporation, which underlines the "consensus" with which this document has been drawn up.

The approved Instruction will allow the workers of the First Island Institution to carry out their functions in a non-presential way through teleworking for three days a week, and two in person, in accordance with the usual working day and hours.

The workers of the First Island Institution who meet the requirements may be eligible for teleworking for a maximum of one year, which may be extended, in positions considered likely to be developed under this formula, such as the study and analysis of projects; the preparation of reports; advice, drafting, correction and processing of documents; the management of information and communication systems; and the analysis, design and programming of information and communication systems, among others. Positions in registry and citizen information and service offices and all those involving face-to-face services will not be eligible to be performed by teleworking.

"The authorization for the provision of the service in the non-presential work modality may be temporarily suspended due to circumstances affecting the employee or due to service needs," the Cabildo specifies.
