The island secretary of the Canarian Nationalist Center (CCN) in La Gomera, Oscar Santos, stated this Friday that his party deeply regrets that the Canarian Coalition (CC) has "breached the electoral agreement" established on the Island between both, so it considers its pact with this political force concluded.
In a statement, he recalls that the CCN and CC are two parties with "their own and differentiated political and legal personalities", and that the agreement signed for the May elections established a monitoring commission that, according to the complaint, has never met due to the "lack of will" of the top leader of CC on the Island, Víctor Chinea.
In addition, the Island Secretary states that he has personally verified the "impossibility of redirecting the pre-election agreements" with CC in La Gomera, which, he insists, have been "repeatedly breached" by Chinea.
Oscar believes that CC has chosen the PSC as its new political partner in La Gomera, so he considers his alliance with CC on this island terminated "as long as it maintains such a political strategy".
Own candidacy for the general elections
In this regard, he announced that the CCN is already working on presenting its own candidacy in the next general elections to the Senate, representing the island of La Gomera, for which it has already initiated actions to gain the support of the Gomera society.
Regarding Chinea, he states that the CC leader "does not show his face" nor, he recalls, has he agreed to convene the Pact's monitoring commission. Furthermore, he understands that "he has declared himself in rebellion in his own party, which has been unable to force him to convene said commission", they assure from the CCN.
In addition, they accuse him of maintaining "surprisingly a claudicating attitude" with the president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, "very different from that of the CCN", who believes that Curbelo "should resign" for the events that occurred last month.
Nor has Chinea complied, in his opinion, with the CCN in the designation of government positions in La Gomera, to which he had committed in writing. The appointments of the Medianías Plan, the direction of the Health Area, the management of the Island Hospital, among others, are an example of the decisions that CC has taken "unilaterally" on the Island.
Likewise, the island secretary recalled that CC "failed to comply in 90 percent in the past electoral lists, while the CCN scrupulously maintained all its agreements".
