The Canarian Employment Service has today published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) the bases and calls corresponding to the year 2009 to apply for the nursery check and to join the program to promote the creation of jobs in public or private Early Childhood Education centers for children from 0 to 3 years old.
This year's nursery check call is extended to unemployed parents if they are the ones taking care of the children and find a job, giving them the possibility of applying for aid to cover the costs of the nursery, up to a maximum of 150 euros per month for twelve months.
Another novelty presented by the 2009 call is the reduction of the minimum time that the applicant must be registered as a job seeker, which goes from six months to one. Likewise, the minimum period that the person must be hired to access the nursery check is reduced from six to three months.
On the other hand, the beneficiaries must prove that they have their residence in the Canary Islands and, with respect to the requirement of being registered as job seekers, with an uninterrupted registration, at the time of being hired, of at least 30 days.
In addition, those who meet any of the following criteria do not need to have remained in that condition for 30 days, although they must be previously registered in any of the offices of the Canarian Employment Service. Thus, these criteria apply to people with recognized disabilities, equal to or greater than 33 percent; recipients of the Canarian Insertion Benefit; under 30 years of age, or over 45, on the date of formalization of the contract and women victims of gender violence.
Each beneficiary may only hold the nursery check once for each child entitled to it. The amount of the subsidy will be the same as the amount that, as a nursery expense, the applicant must bear, establishing, however, a maximum monthly limit of 150 euros to be received for each child under three years of age. The validity of the nursery check is one year from the day following its granting.
Promote job creation
The aid program to promote the creation of jobs in public or private Early Childhood Education centers for children from 0 to 3 years old aims to promote, by municipal local corporations or by private companies, the creation of jobs in these centers to facilitate the care of workers' children during the working day. The subsidies will consist of a fixed amount, which amounts to a maximum of 4,000 euros per worker, depending on the type of employment contract that is signed.
The beneficiaries of these aids may be local corporations and bodies and public law entities dependent on them, as well as private companies and associations or groups of companies organized through a single legal personality that promote within them, from the entry into force of the resolution, the creation and/or expansion of staff in this type of centers.
The budget item allocated in the year 2009 to the aids of the nursery check amounts to 200,000 euros (plus another 200,000 euros for the year 2010, since the aids are extended for one year), while the one allocated to the program to promote the creation of jobs in public or private Early Childhood Education centers for children from 0 to 3 years old is 50,000 euros.
The deadline to submit applications to join these calls begins this Tuesday, August 18 for contracts formalized between January and June 2009, and may be submitted within ten days following the publication of the call in the BOC.
For employment contracts signed after that date, a period of ten days is enabled from October 1 (for employment contracts signed between July and September 2009) and another ten days from December 1 (for employment contracts signed between October and November 2009).
