The Cabildo of Lanzarote has presented in this day four new vehicles that reinforce the fleet of buses of the intercity public transportation.

With the presence of the vice president and Transportation counselor, Marcos Bergaz, and the general director of Intercitybus Lanzarote, Esther Cabrera, the bus interchange in Arrecife has been "the place chosen for the launching of a social and economic investment of 740,000 euros charged to the concessional contract".

“We are keeping our word, with these four buses in the last year, we have added a total of fourteen new units, all more energetically efficient, with less emission of CO2, and adapted for users with special needs, demands typical of a sustainable and universal mobility”, affirms Bergaz before the media.

“The objective is to attend to the strong increase in demand that we have experienced", given that "it has increased in a very important way in the first two months of 2023, going from 721,517 travelers in January and February of 2022 to 1,023,372 of the current year”, he points out.

“The objective is to attend to the strong increase in demand that we have experienced"

“We are in luck for this increase in the use of collective transportation". Hence "the effort to add new buses and personnel that allow to assume it, in a context of difficulties in the markets for its acquisition", he adds. But he makes clear that "the implication of the concessionaire and the Cabildo have made it possible”

To finalize, the vice president wanted to put in value “the effort of the entire staff of drivers, personnel of the company and direction so that more than five million travelers used the public transportation in 2022”, announcing that, “precisely this Wednesday, the negotiations between the parts will be retaken for the renovation of the collective agreement, that I hope will end in agreement”.
