The Cabildo of Lanzarote has re-awarded the adaptation works of the accesses to the town of Tías from the LZ-2 road, after the winning company of the contest renounced to execute the works after having signed the contract. The contest was awarded last March to Promociones y Construcciones F. Rivera, S.L. for 160,231 euros, but now it has gone to the company that presented the second best valued offer, Rustilanza, S.L, for 162,418 euros.

The Councilor for Public Works and Planning and Project Coordination, Saray Rodríguez (PP), explained that "this has been the reason for the administrative procedure that has delayed the execution of these important works for the municipality of Tías." It is expected, according to the councilor, that once the procedures are formalized, the new bidder will begin in approximately one month, the adaptation works of these accesses that "will avoid the overflows and floods that occur in the rainy season in the two main entrances to the town of Tías through the east and west links of the LZ road".

According to the Cabildo, "these works are contemplated in the investment and municipal cooperation plans of the Cabildo, the result of the commitments acquired in 2016 between the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés (CC), with the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández (PP), to improve the entrance image to this town and to provide a solution to this problem, with an action that will also improve the safety of users and drivers accessing Tías through these links".

The projected actions translate into preventing surface runoff from dragging material from the slopes towards the road, so retaining walls and insertion of stone planters will be built outside the platform of the roads, thus ensuring an adequate drainage and containment system to prevent these overflows on the road of both entrances to the municipality by the LZ-2. The execution period of the works "will be approximately three months, once the works begin".
