The head of the area in the Cabildo, Ramón Bermúdez, supported by the Transport councilors of the seven municipalities of the island, announced on Wednesday morning that, from today, the 30-day period for the submission of proposals for the management of the center that will unify the taxi service in Lanzarote is open. He also announced that in May the Auriga system and the center that manages it should be 100% operational, despite the reservations and complaints raised by professionals in the sector.
"The implementation of the system on the island is a reality that, despite the difficulties, will provide greater security to taxi drivers and increase the quality of this public service, which will benefit both citizens and tourists," said Bermúdez, who also recalled the advantage of GPS location of vehicles, which will be able to serve a greater number of customers, as well as the convenience of being able to pay by card.
Once the management of the service has been awarded, the single telephone number for the entire island will be announced. Meanwhile, the Department of Transport of the Cabildo will work on the training and uniforming of taxi drivers and will facilitate the placement of terminals in vehicles, as announced.
On the official website of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in the Public Procurement section, the specifications of clauses and technical requirements of the public tender are available for those interested in managing the service.
