The Cabildo has already budgeted for the construction of the heliport next to the Security and Emergency Consortium

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has budgeted for the construction of a heliport on the land adjacent to the Security and Emergency Consortium, in Argana Alta. This was stated by the Minister of Health, Juan Manuel Sosa, who also reproached CC and PP that before asking about the situation, they should ask "their party colleagues".

"They could have asked Pedro San Ginés those questions," said the Minister on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero, adding that a feasibility report was requested for the construction of a heliport on April 22, 2019.

"There is plenty of land there, and as we have dormitories, bathrooms and a kitchen, the idea was that the helicopter could spend the night in Lanzarote, and if the Government of the Canary Islands bought a helicopter, as has recently happened, then it would have a place to stay in Lanzarote," explains the Minister.

However, that feasibility plan prepared since 2019 "was paralyzed". "The previous president did not give the go-ahead for the project to go ahead, even though it was something that was very cheap," explained Sosa. In this regard, he details that the drafting of the project costs "12,900 euros without VAT", while the budget for the work amounts to "60,000 euros". "It is not an expense considering the advantages of having a heliport next to the hospital", he adds.

Juan Manuel Sosa also reproaches the councilor of the Popular Party, Jacobo Medina, in relation to the requests in the plenary session of the Corporation. "I don't know why he doesn't ask his friend Kiko Aparicio, who was president of the Security and Emergency Consortium until recently," says Sosa.

"I have also seen press appearances by Fernando Clavijo and Migdalia Machín, asking for heliports, and this has been prepared since 2019. There is not much communication between them," he adds.

"It's a good thing that Marcos Bergaz has taken care of the issue," says Sosa, who also explains that last Saturday the aeronautical engineer in charge of the report went to the area to start the heliport project as soon as possible.

"The feasibility study establishes the routes that the helicopter has to follow so as not to disturb the population with noise, to be careful with the environment. There are no large buildings, and everything is prepared so that in a couple of months we can have it," concludes Sosa.

The Cabildo will also rehabilitate the heliport of La Graciosa

Last week, the Popular Party demanded the immediate rehabilitation of the heliport of La Graciosa, which after the passage of the years is in poor condition and even fails to comply with current regulations.

"It would be better if they asked before making demands or posting articles and photographs," claims Sosa, who explains that last Friday the aeronautical engineer also went to the eighth island to learn about the situation, where he was accompanied by the president of the Emergency Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, and the councilor delegate of La Graciosa, Alicia Páez.

"He was taking measurements and taking photographs, to prepare the remodeling and updating project of the signage of the heliport of La Graciosa," explains Sosa, who adds that they will also have to change the entire floor that exists today.
