The Arrecife City Council and the Lanzarote Cabildo held a meeting this Thursday to update the various plans and projects for intervention in the city that require the collaboration of both institutions. And among other things, in that meeting the Cabildo raised the need for the new Arrecife General Planning Plan to "contemplate sufficient buildability to expand the services and dependencies of the Island Hospital on its own surrounding plot of 12,000 square meters".

The meeting, chaired by the mayoress Eva de Anta and the vice president of the first Corporation, José Juan Cruz, was also attended by the Minister of Public Works, Andrés Stinga, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Samuel Martín, the Councilor for Roads and Works and Mobility, Inodelvia Torres, the Councilor for Industry and Commerce, Ariagona González and the Councilor for Commerce, Consumption and Local Development and Employment Agency, Isabel Mesa.

In the meeting, José Juan Cruz also demanded from the new urban planning of Arrecife "the search for land for the construction of a residence for the elderly, with the capacity to meet the current demands of the population of the municipality".

The works on the avenue will be finished "around July 30"

For its part, according to the Cabildo in a statement, the mayoress was interested in the development of the works being carried out in the capital. The technicians present reported on the completion, around July 30, of the works in the Open Commercial Area of the maritime avenue. In that area, and once the replacement of the water pipeline carried out by Canal Gestión is finished, "the paving stones in front of the Islas Canarias park will be removed and that section will be asphalted".

The continuation of the bicycle lane between the La Marina port and the islet of El Francés, with the demolition of the walls of La Rocar and the expansion of the sidewalks, was another of the issues discussed, together with the resurfacing of the surroundings of the CEIP Benito Méndez and the habilitation of a taxi rank in the Reducto interchange.

The representatives of the Cabildo and the City Council agreed to highlight, according to the Island Corporation, "the good atmosphere of the meeting and the importance of inter-administrative collaboration to carry out the projects, execute the investments and generate employment with them".
