The Arrecife City Council has announced that it submitted this Wednesday the application to the call for competitive grants from the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will allow the hiring of about thirty long-term unemployed for a period of seven months.

As explained, the Municipal Corporation will be covered by a subsidy amounting to 229,706 euros, which this year will enable the hiring of two teachers in adult education, a technical architect, seven gardeners, fourteen construction workers and six painters.

The City Council points out that this is the fifth employment agreement to be executed in Arrecife throughout 2019. With it, it states that some 174 unemployed people will have been hired for this year through subsidies to which the City Council has adhered, amounting to more than 1.8 million euros.

The acting mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, has expressed her "satisfaction" with the "high number of employment projects that are being executed in the capital municipality." Training is essential to open doors in the labor market and we are sure that it will be used by the unemployed hired", she added.

"This project will offer new training and employment opportunities to the unemployed of Arrecife and, in turn, the capital municipality will increase the employability of its citizens", said the acting Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Isabel Mesa.

Other four agreements

From the Arrecife City Council they explain that in the municipality four other agreements are currently being developed, such as the training and employment agreement also signed with the Canarian Employment Service by which a total of 31 long-term unemployed were hired at the end of last year and for a period of seven and a half months. The subsidized amount amounted to 238,737 euros.

The City Council also highlights the agreement of the Alternating Training with Employment Program (PFAE) "Animation in Action III", which has allowed the hiring for almost a year of 20 people, five members of the management team and 15 student-workers under 30 years of age who will receive a Level II Professional Certificate, Dynamization of Free Time, Educational, Children and Youth. This project has a budget of 273,267.17 euros and is financed by the Ministry of Labor, the Comprehensive Employment Plan and the Canarian Employment Service.

A third agreement is called 'Arrecife Emple@' and has a subsidy of 603,000 euros, co-financed by the Canarian Employment Service of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Labor. According to the City Council, this social employment agreement has made it possible to hire 48 people in January for nine months.

For its part, the fourth employment agreement that is being executed in the municipality, 'Arrecife Camin@', allowed the hiring in February and for six months of 45 people belonging to different professional activities. In this case, the City Council availed itself of a nominated subsidy from the Cabildo amounting to 492,267.50 euros.
