The Andalusian businessman José Gonzalo Gil Acosta was released on bail in the early hours of Tuesday morning, charged with alleged crimes of money laundering and/or punishable insolvency, after testifying for several hours before Judge César Romero Pamparacuatro.
Gil Acosta, former director of the Hoteles Playa group, was arrested last Friday in Andalusia and later transferred to Lanzarote, where he remained under arrest in Civil Guard facilities, until he was brought before the court this Monday.
Like five others arrested in the last phase of Operation "Jable", which is part of the "Unión" case, the Andalusian businessman is accused of acting as an alleged front man for Dimas Martín, helping him to hide an alleged fortune of some 8.5 million euros from the Justice.
Until the investigation of the case is completed, he will have to appear in court on the 1st and 15th of each month.
A group linked to the PIL
As for José María Rosell, arrested last Saturday at the Lanzarote airport, his detention has been extended until this Tuesday, when he will be questioned and his personal situation will be resolved.
Rossell is the owner of the Hoteles Playa group and was arrested and charged in connection with the same events as Gil Acosta. This business group owns the Playa Verde hotel in Costa Teguise and also started construction for a new hotel establishment in that area, although [the works were halted by the Justice->3301]. The license had been granted by the mayor of Teguise, at that time a member of the PIL, Juan Pedro Hernández.
The connection of this group with the PIL and in particular with Dimas Martín has been very close in recent years. Rossell was president of 'El Maho', the official newspaper of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (PIL) and administrator of Televolcán, when this television was controlled by that party.
