After two weeks of prevention protocol against Covid in soccer fields and municipal pavilions, the City Council is working on new contingency plans to open gyms and wrestling and futsal courts.

The Teguise City Council announced on April 4 the reopening of the municipality's sports facilities, once the Covid-19 Contingency Plan was approved, which includes health protection and prevention protocols against the coronavirus in routine training and competitions, which has allowed the attendance of public to the soccer fields and the pavilions of the Villa and Tahiche.

According to the training and competition calendar, and following the health recommendations, the City Council activated this Contingency Plan, implementing a series of anti-Covid measures that ensure the safety of users: mandatory use of masks, temperature control, disinfectant mats and hand washing with hydroalcoholic gel at the entrance; cleaning and disinfection service of bleachers and sports equipment between sessions and matches; informative panels with health recommendations and various signs in stands and seats to ensure that interpersonal safety distance is respected.

"It has been two weeks of sports training without incidents, since both the clubs and the families that accompany their sons and daughters to the field have shown absolute respect for health safety regulations," said the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort. "Therefore, we will adjust to these measures so that the sports community of Teguise can enjoy a complete de-escalation," he said.

To this end, he said, "we continue working with the Security and Sports technicians to progressively open the sports facilities of the towns of the municipality, as is the case of the Tao Wrestling Club court or the futsal court of La Graciosa, among other municipal infrastructures, such as the gyms of the Villa or Tahiche".

In this sense, the areas of Security and Emergencies, and Sports, coordinated by Eugenio Robayna and Gerardo Rodríguez respectively, will inform of the conditions of use of the aforementioned public facilities (which have not yet opened the cafeteria service), once all the security measures required by Public Health are approved, which will determine, at least until April 2022, the management of the sports facilities of Teguise.
