Teguise City Council has approved public lighting renovation projects in recent weeks, which it says will benefit the municipality's towns, within the Electrical Installations Modernization Plan, "which affects the entire municipal area and aims to improve efficiency, visibility, safety and also the image of streetlights."

Guatiza, Los Valles, Teseguite, El Mojón, Nazaret, Tahiche, Las Caletas are some of the towns where old streetlights and lampposts have recently been replaced with new lighting installations that have been contracted through the Roads and Works area. This has been verified in recent weeks by both the mayor of the municipality, Oswaldo Betancort, and the head of the area, Eugenio Robayna, who are continuing with the Electrical Modernization Plan initiated in 2017 after the signing of the agreement with Endesa.

Through the agreement signed between both entities for the rehabilitation of the lighting in the municipality of Teguise, "progress has been made in a new lighting system in favor of energy sustainability," they point out from Teguise, from where they highlight, "not only the savings in energy matters, but the fact of responding to the neighborhood demand about the poor lighting in some points and streets of rural areas," said Oswaldo Betancort, who noted that it has also been supplemented with solar streetlights.

"The path undertaken in 2015 in Teguise under the slogan 'Illuminating smiles' continues year after year, advancing -without haste, but without pause- in the objective of improving the public lighting service, and many others that require daily attention, in some cases immediate, in others in the medium or long term, but the machines and the engine are always running in Teguise to serve the citizen," said Betancort.
