Urbaser worker Stephani Jean Balverde has been released at 6:00 p.m. this Wednesday, after being arrested last Monday in Madrid for his connection with Operation "Jable". For three days this employee remained arrested and, after being transferred to Lanzarote and testifying this Wednesday before the presiding judge of the Court of First Instance Number 5, César Romero Pamparacuatro, he has been released with charges.

Jean Valverde is charged with alleged crimes of bribery and price alteration in public tender, allegedly linked to Urbaser's contract with the Arrecife City Council. The contract was established during the mandate of the former mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, who has also been arrested and is charged in the framework of this case, as is the head of the Technical Office of Arrecife, Rafael Arrocha, and the manager of Urbaser, Jacinto Álvarez.

Stephani Jean Valverde is the first of the eight detainees in the framework of this third phase of Operation "Unión" who has been released. Some of those arrested began to appear in court this Tuesday, and have begun to testify before the judge.

The detainees in this intervention, baptized as Operation "Jable", are, in addition to this Urbaser worker, the former socialist councilor and prominent former member of the PSOE, Miguel Ángel Leal, as well as the former mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz; the former president of Asolan and president and CEO of Horinsa, Francisco Armas; the manager of Urbaser, Jacinto Álvarez; the head of the Technical Office of the Arrecife City Council, Rafael Arrocha; the engineer of the Cabildo Manuel Spínola; and the member of the PP and director of a bank office, Julio Romero.
