The San Bartolomé City Council acquired this past Friday the Molina de Don Juan Armas, a building with great historical and cultural value for the municipality.
This action, which is part of the project to recover the municipal heritage, will allow the "conservation and restoration" of one of the architectural jewels of San Bartolomé, which had experienced a "considerable deterioration" in recent years due to its state of "abandonment".
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has highlighted the importance of obtaining this historic property, which "will now belong to all the neighbors of San Bartolomé". In addition, he pointed out that this acquisition will allow to "maintain the identity and history of the Molina", so it "deserves to be restored and preserved for future generations due to its great value as historical and cultural heritage of the Canary Islands".
For his part, the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Antonio Rocío, stated that the property, whose acquisition was made for an amount of "400,000 euros", "is a clear example of traditional architecture in a rural environment." The Molina de Don Juan Armas, a building that appears in the Municipal Architectural Catalog, has a land of 2,021.97 square meters and a constructed area of 978 square meters.
For the restoration, conservation and commissioning of the property, the city council will initiate a study and evaluation phase, in which the collaboration of the different public administrations will be sought to carry out the necessary conditioning actions.
