Residents of the municipality of Arrecife can now acquire the residence certificate online from this Monday. This document is mandatory from the 1st to access the 50 percent discount on the price of plane and boat tickets, to which the population based in the Canary Islands is entitled.
In this way, it is expected that the measure will serve to reduce the volume of people who are approaching the Registry these days. According to the Councilor responsible for Human Resources and New Technologies, Ángeles García, "the Registry staff has been issuing an average of 500 certificates daily, which has meant an increase in work that is difficult to manage and long waits for applicants."
Thus, the councilor is confident that the implementation of the computer tool that allows access and printing of the residence accreditation, through the municipal website (www.arrecife.es), from domestic equipment, will partially relieve the pressure on the Registry staff and reduce the waiting time for residents.
The councilor wanted to emphasize that these are the first days "and that is why I ask for a little patience from users in the event that they encounter any problem with the service that, of course, we will try to solve as soon as possible."
It should be remembered that the conditions to be a beneficiary of the 50 percent bonus in the cost of travel have not changed. "The discounts apply to Spanish citizens and those from other member states of the European Union, countries that have signed the agreement on the European Economic Area and Switzerland, who are registered in the municipal register," said the councilor.
