The opposition groups of the Arrecife City Council, PSOE and Lanzarote en Pie (LEP), have requested explanations from the Government Group for the institutional act for the appointment of Rosana as favorite daughter of the municipality, which will be held within a week, after the appointment was definitively approved this Friday.
“Rosana is going to charge 6,000 euros for the performance she will give when she is named favorite daughter”, said the socialist spokesperson, Cristina Duque, on Radio Lanzarote – Onda Cero. In addition, she questioned that she found out on August 31, “when reading a mayoral decree”, of the call for that event, which will be held on the Islote de Fermina,
The spokesperson for LEP, Leticia Padilla, has also been critical: “I am surprised because, if I am not mistaken, we are not hiring Rosana to give a concert. Lwe are inviting her to receive a medal where we are going to name her favorite daughter”, said the councilor, who considers it “strange” that the singer is going to charge for that performance.
According to her, the resolution indicates that the 6,000 euros correspond to the artist's "fee", although the government group has assured her that the money “was not for her”. “They said that she is accompanied by musicians, representatives, and that the expenses and accommodation have to be paid. That surprises me even more”, adds the councilor.
"If I am named favorite daughter of my hometown and it turns out that I am a singer, well, I take my guitar with how well I do it and I can sing some songs, to offer them to those who give me that well-deserved honor. Without having to pay for trips, expenses, stay for my representative and the troop that goes to my concert. It is my opinion, there will be people who see it well, but if we hire a Rosana concert, let it be in a larger venue where people can attend," she defended.
“We will ask for timely explanations and we have requested information from the file, to see if they give it to us before Friday”, says Cristina Duque for her part.
In addition, the socialist councilor emphasizes that the 6,000 euros also add other expenses of that event, amounting in total "to an amount close to 15,200 euros.”
“We don't know if it will be an open event or not, that's precisely why, because of the forms. I believe that when someone is named a favorite son, the forms are very important, and you have to act with elegance. But the mayor has failed, which is what she has accustomed us to,” adds Duque.
“We have a meeting next Wednesday, and everything we have learned has been through the press or through the Protocol advisor”, she adds, pointing out that they have not even been told the time of the event.
