Throughout her speech, held this Friday at the headquarters of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, in the Vegueta neighborhood of the capital of Gran Canaria, Parejo proposed solutions for procedures in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. "While a decision is made on the creation of a detached section of the Provincial Court in Lanzarote, and without prejudice to other solutions," she specified, "it is considered that it is necessary to make the pertinent arrangements for an official from each of the islands, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, to be available for holding videoconferences."

The idea is that "this system is used without overloading the judicial bodies of said islands." According to the new president, the purpose of this initiative is to avoid the displacement to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria of the witnesses who reside on these Islands.

Parejo described it as "a priority" that the Court be provided with a common service, "non-existent today", adding that it should be in charge of the Presidency, the Distribution, the Notifications, the Trials of the Organic Law of the Jury Court "and any other functions that may be proposed."

Parejo's idea is that this service will operate in the future Palace of Justice, but she considers that its implementation should be as immediate as possible. "The most appropriate thing," she added, "is that it has enough space so that the services that are currently distributed among the different sections can be installed in it."

THE CITIZENS

Finally, Parejo stated that "I cannot forget that behind each judicial decision are the citizens who do not go to the Courts on a whim but because they have not known or been able to solve their conflicts in another way." It is precisely for this reason that she considers that her time in this Court should cause them "as little disruption as possible" as well as that the response they expect is "quick".

To this end, she has pledged to "demand new Magistrate positions", because she considers that "speed in the response cannot be separated from the calm and time for reflection" that judicial decisions deserve, many of which are not subject to appeal.

The new president was sure that the complaints of the citizens should be addressed, trying to give them an adequate response, always within the powers attributed to the President of the Court.
