The candidacy headed by Pedro San Ginés and Olivia Duque has announced that it has far exceeded the necessary endorsements to compete in the VII Island Congress of the Canarian Coalition in Lanzarote, which will be held on May 24. In three days, they have gathered 156 endorsements from the 241 accredited delegates, which for the moment represents 64% of the total, well above the minimum required (48 endorsements) and also the threshold that guarantees the majority in the Congress (122 endorsements).

This majority support comes from all the local committees of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, with the exception of the Tinajo committee, for the moment, highlighting resounding majorities in four of them and solid majority support also among the delegates of the youth organization.

"Special mention should be made of the Local Committee of Arrecife, which has the largest number of delegates (69) and to which both Pedro San Ginés and his colleague Samuel Martín belong, the visible head of the other announced candidacy. In this committee, San Ginés' candidacy has obtained 66 endorsements, while it is unknown if Martín's will have any support, apart from his own", they say from the party.

Pedro San Ginés, Olivia Duque and their team want to publicly thank "the trust of the affiliates, delegates and local secretaries who have supported their project, underlining the broad, plural and majority character of the support received". San Ginés has expressed his intention to "dispel the reasonable doubts about the suitability of his candidacy that a minority of delegates maintain, and convince them of the benefits of the same from respect and with an outstretched hand".

In that sense, he has made a call to the other candidacy to "join the project, with the aim of reaching the consensus and unity that would be convenient for the organization", although he says that "nothing happens if both have to be submitted to the consideration of the Congress", he added, while ratifying that he will "close ranks with whoever assumes the direction of the party if he does not achieve the support of the militants".

"We do not understand the endorsement of the majority as a personal victory, but as a collective responsibility to reinforce the Canarian Coalition from cohesion, participation and commitment to Lanzarote and La Graciosa", concludes San Ginés.
