The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has expressed his intention to cede a municipal plot "suitable" to house an infrastructure that positions Lanzarote as a quality congress tourism destination, with its epicenter in Costa Teguise. "We are making available to the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands a total of 27,000 square meters as an incentive for them to invest once and for all in a sector that is taking off again after the crisis, and that can place Lanzarote at the same level as other islands.”
“We have the space to compete in the field of business tourism, which includes meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions,” says Betancort, who explains that the land is located next to the Hotel Beatriz de Costa Teguise. "It is time to respond to businessmen and specialized agents with the firm commitment to provide economic resources to one of the most demanded projects on the island by all professionals who carry out their work in this segment," said the mayor of Teguise, considering that "any sales and promotion strategy of our destination will fall short if we cannot offer a meeting point and celebration of professional events that attract greater wealth, employment and economic stability to the island and the world of tourism.”
“We are immersed in the celebration of an important anniversary in the Canary Islands, such as the 50 years of history of Costa Teguise, a town with the best urban planning concept on the island of Lanzarote, inspired by traditional architecture, which offers ample open spaces and where hotel establishments and apartments rise that fit harmoniously into the landscape,” considers Oswaldo Betancort.
“Costa Teguise had the privilege of being formed by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique, and has managed to develop the model tourist town that it is today, betting in recent years to diversify and modernize its leisure offer, which we must now promote by building a congress and convention center, located in a place with good accessibility and with all services,” he concludes.
