The Welfare Secretariat of Nueva Canarias Lanzarote has developed a project for the creation of a third Basic Health Zone (ZBS) in the capital of Lanzarote. This ZBS would be destined to "improve the health care and the portfolio of services provided by the Canary Health Service in the neighborhoods of Argana Alta, Argana Baja and Maneje."

According to them, the demographic density of Arrecife is currently around 65,000 inhabitants, comprising about 15,000 inhabitants only between the nuclei of Argana Alta, Argana Baja and Maneje. For the Insular Secretary of Welfare of NC in Lanzarote, Yoné Caraballo, “the implementation of a third ZBS in Arrecife is more than a priority, given that the Titerroy Health Center maintains an excessive care burden, more than 47,700 users.” This project, they point out, “would facilitate the process of implementing the demanded Argana Health Center, but with much more capacity for care and health independence.”

The Canarian nationalists state that “before the health crisis caused by Covid-19, the creation of this ZBS was a necessity; now it becomes an obligation.”

In the proposal that they have sent to the media, neighborhood associations and political parties, they reflect an infrastructure with similar characteristics to the Tinajo office, with the capacity to assist a population of about 15,000 residents. Similarly, they point out that the health personnel for this facility would be composed of: 2 nurses; 1 pediatric nurse; 2 doctors; 1 pediatrician; 1 social worker; 2 administrative assistants; 1 midwife, in 7-hour shifts between 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, and from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Finally, they point out that last Thursday, January 28, NC held a meeting with the Argana Viva Neighborhood Movement Association, "reaching a unanimous consensus in support of the proposal presented."
