Nueva Canarias denounces "the dirty tricks" of Canal Gestión in the face of the dismantling of its workforce

They demand that the Cabildo and the Consortium "clarify all the information to verify the reasons for the reduction of the Canal Gestión workforce, since it is not understood that on an island with so many deficits in water management"

Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) in Lanzarote and La Graciosa wanted to express their total solidarity with the workers of Canal Gestión who have raised the alarm about the dismantling of the current workforce of the company, which has gone from 280 to 207 employees.

This complaint is given by the possibility that Canal de Isabel II abandons its contractual tasks on the island and cedes the management to a third company that would take charge of the task of supplying water to the people of Lanzarote. If this happens, they say from NC-bc, "the already poor water management that has been taking place in Lanzarote as a result of the passivity and neglect of the public officials who have and have had command in the Cabildo and the Consortium would be further compromised."

The organization led by deputy Yoné Caraballo blames CC for "having led the Lanzarote society to this situation in an effort to privatize the management of a public asset as sensitive as water; and at the same time they blame the PSOE for its passivity when it has had governmental responsibility, giving continuity to a service that they knew would collapse and cause an emergency situation."

In the same way, they demand that the Cabildo and the Consortium "clarify all the information to verify the reasons for the reduction of the Canal Gestión workforce, since it is not understood that on an island with so many deficits in water management the service is being dismantled. They also demand that all guarantees be given to the workers that their jobs are safe and that they will not continue to be objects of poor political management.

A controversial visit

Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) assures that the visit of the deputy of Más Madrid in the Assembly of Madrid, Alejandro Sánchez, last September to Lanzarote, invited by the Canaristas to participate in a table on the management of public water, "has caused a stir within the Madrid government that for some time have been considering the possibility of Canal de Isabel II leaving Lanzarote before it could become a political issue for the Community of Madrid and, specifically, for the PP of Isabel Díaz Ayuso."

For NC-bc, "the visit of our colleague Alejandro Sánchez has served to confirm that the incursion of Canal de Isabel II in Lanzarote is beginning to have similarities with other unsuccessful incursions of the Madrid company in other parts of the world, which have led it to have to sell its shares and leave those places." Faced with this, the Canaristas maintain, "we must foresee a plan to recover the service that returns the water to the hands from which it should not have left."
