THEY ASK FOR PUBLIC TENDERS AND SPECIFICATIONS TO BE REVIEWED

Nueva Canarias de Tías denounces the breach by the awarded company, Ingemont, of the execution period for the renovation of sidewalks and paving of Calle Princesa Ico in the town. Specifically, they indicate that the specifications for which the project was awarded stipulated that the works should be carried out in three months. That is, they should have been completed on December 19.

Given this breach, the political formation points out that "possibly the local government will have to terminate the contract" with the company. A situation that, according to them, is not new, since the Cabildo already had to do so with the work on Avenida, in Arrecife, which was also carried out by Ingemont.

Nueva Canarias has warned of the need to review and better analyze the tenders published by public administrations, "improving and refining the specifications more". In this sense, the political formation considers that priority should not only be given to price, as an award criterion, "establishing that the awarded company could not subcontract another company at a lower price to carry out the work, establishing penalties for delays, compensation for breaches, etc."

Monitor execution

But they also believe that once a work has been awarded, the local government "should not disinterest itself, but should monitor the execution, ordering periodic certifications to guarantee compliance with the agreed conditions."

In the opinion of Nueva Canarias, the "most sensible" thing in cases like the one they denounce would be "that instead of rescinding the contract, the company is forced to finish executing it at the agreed price and, in case of non-compliance, that they pay penalties or compensation." However, they advocate that all of this be set "properly" in the specifications.
