The Podemos councilor in the Cabildo, Myriam Barros, has taken for granted on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero the "break" of the purple formation with Lanzarote en Pie, which she believes is "more beneficial than problematic."
"I have always shown that I like things clear and chocolate thick and that things have to be called by their name. And Podemos has not been given a vote in Lanzarote en Pie for a long time because Lanzarote en Pie is managed and handled by two people, Leandro Delgado and Leticia Padilla, and everyone knows this," said Myriam Barros, after Padilla decided to leave Podemos and remain as a councilor in Arrecife under the umbrella of Lanzarote en Pie, which is not actually constituted as a party.
It should be remembered that Lanzarote en Pie was initially presented as a supposed citizen platform, although already then Padilla and other members of Podemos were pointed out as those responsible for its creation. Later, its name was used for the confluence with which Podemos presented itself in the last elections, and to which only Equo ended up joining. By virtue of that confluence, other people who were not then in the purple formation were incorporated into the lists, such as Barros herself, who later formally joined Podemos and since last December has been the spokesperson for the Arrecife circle, which until then had been led by Leticia Padilla.
"The other day I read in the press that there are 20 people working in the Lanzarote en Pie team and I would like them to give me the names and surnames of the people who work with her because, if we are going to talk, let's say everything," added Myriam Barros.
In addition, she has assured that, since she and Jorge Peñas entered the Cabildo as councilors, the public representatives of Podemos who were in Lanzarote en Pie left them "stranded all the time." "And this is the reality. They can tell you what they want, but the break comes for a reason," she said.
"I don't have to listen to her, she's not my boss. What I do is work for all the municipalities of the island and collaborate with anyone who asks me for collaboration. If you don't contact me to ask for collaboration, I can't know that you need help," said the councilor, responding to the words of Leticia Padilla who, after leaving Podemos, complained of "lack of attention" and "communication" from other public officials of the purple formation.
"It was attributed that María del Río or the parliamentarians had not called us for the issue of the budgets (of the Government of the Canary Islands). Listen, madam, if I have proposals for myself and I know that the budgets are being worked on and I have a parliamentarian from Lanzarote, what I do is pick up the phone," she added.
Finally, the Podemos councilor in the Cabildo has also criticized some actions carried out by Lanzarote en Pie. "There are many things we don't agree on," she said, condemning the photographs that Leticia Padilla made public showing people relieving themselves in the street. "A situation can be denounced without denigrating anyone," she concluded.
