Martina Manteiga Fulgueira, who was the auditor of the Arrecife City Council during the term of Manuel Fajardo Feo, will return to the capital's City Council. The Civil Service has appointed the official with national qualification to hold the position "on a provisional basis" in the City Council. According to sources, the new auditor will join "throughout next week", even though the Civil Service grants her a period of one month to do so.
According to the resolution issued by the General Directorate of Public Service this Thursday, it was Martina Manteiga herself who, on May 8, requested to join the Arrecife City Council as auditor through a provisional appointment, as this position is vacant due to "lack of a holder". It should be remembered that Elena Gómez left the City Council in March after obtaining a position in Tías because, although she could request an extension, the mayor of Arrecife denied it, arguing that there was a national official with a category according to the City Council who had requested to join. After that, the City Council appointed an accidental auditor, but her appointment was declared null by the Civil Service, as denounced by CC last week.
Martina Manteiga currently worked as treasurer in the Cabildo, a position in which she is "permanently assigned", but in which she "must now cease" within three working days. However, the application submitted by Martina Manteiga included a "favorable" report from the first institution, as well as a "conformity" report from the Arrecife City Council.
Dubbed the "Sexiest Auditor in Spain"
The official already held this position in the capital's City Council in 2013, during the term of Manuel Fajardo Feo, although it was only for a few weeks, having to leave it after Carlos Sáenz recovered the position after being released from provisional prison for the Montecarlo case. Martina Manteiga was also an auditor in the Teguise City Council and later made the leap to the Cabildo, where she has been working as treasurer since May 2, 2015.
It should be remembered that Martina Manteiga was once dubbed "the sexiest auditor in Spain", occupying spaces in several national media outlets. The official combined her work as an auditor with her facet as a model and was Miss Burgos in 2009.
The Mayoress is Confident that the City Council will Return to Normal
The Mayoress of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, has expressed her satisfaction with this appointment and is confident that the delays that have been occurring in the department will be recovered. "We will make every effort to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the City Council return to normal."
In addition, the Mayoress has assured that "the new financial officer of the corporation will have the maximum support of the entire government group in the effort to ensure that the corporation's payments are made within the due dates."
"We have gone through a difficult time and we know that there are many people and groups who have seen their payments delayed due to various circumstances, not all of which are the responsibility of this government group. However, as Mayoress, I know that I must assume that responsibility, so I apologize and convey my firm will to put all the means at my disposal so that the transition period, until all the delays are recovered, lasts as short as possible," Eva de Anta concluded.
