The socialist senator for Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Manuel Fajardo, together with the Third Secretary, María Ángeles Luna, received a delegation from the 'Mining and Energy Commission' of the Senate of Chile, which is in Madrid with the support of the intergovernmental organization 'International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance' (International IDEA) and under the project 'Support to the Chilean Congress for a more transparent, inclusive, accessible and responsible legislative exercise'.
"Renewable energies is one of the subjects that the Chilean Parliament has identified as priorities. In this area, the 'Mining and Energy Commission of the Senate of Chile' has expressed its "interest in comprehensively understanding the operation, legislation, regulation and management methods" of the Member States of the European Union. In order to advance on this issue, the Chilean delegation will also travel to France and Belgium in order to generate learning for a better parliamentary work.
In the meeting, the delegation has shown "great interest" in the regulations on ecological transition in Spain and in the "compliance with climate objectives" within the framework of the 2030 Agenda. The delegation was headed by the ambassador of Chile in Spain, Javier Ignacio Velasco Villegas, and integrated by the president of the Commission José Durana Semir, the senators Juan Castro González, Luz Ebensperger Orrego and Rafael Prohens Espinosa, the executive secretary of the Senate, Julio Cámara Oyarzo, Paola Bobadilla, advisor to Senator Ebensperger and representing Idea Internacional Ricardo Mena, program officer Chile and Ana María Campos.
