The parliamentarian of the Nationalist Group (CC-PNC-AHÍ) Jesús Machín Tavío shows his "disappointment at the little interest that, once again, the Government of Ángel Víctor Torres shows in the needs of the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura".

"And it is that, of the 67 amendments, worth 37 million euros, presented by the Lanzarote nationalist parliamentarians to the general budgets of the Autonomous Community, the Canarian Executive has only approved two of them, although with large cuts in the proposed items: 50,000 euros for the drafting of the project for the Argana Health Center (650,000 were requested) and 200,000 euros for the improvement and maintenance of the Port of Órzola, compared to the million requested", Machín points out.

“These are amendments intended for works, specific projects and real needs, easily executable if there is a will, in each and every one of the seven municipalities and in La Graciosa. Therefore, it is quite disappointing the disinterest shown by this government in our islands and very disappointing that they throw away all the work done”, says Machín, who adds that “without a doubt, we are happy for the residents who so demand and need that health center in Argana, and because the need to proceed with the improvement of the Port of Órzola has been recognized”.

For his part, the candidate for Mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Echedey Eugenio, states that “once our parliamentarians have managed to get the Government of the Canary Islands to remember again that Argana needs a health center and that it is one of the most important works we have pending, now we will work to ensure that the Cabildo and the Government immediately approve the declaration of general interest of this space so that it can be processed immediately, according to article 123 of the Land Law”.

Regarding the Port of Órzola, the CC candidate for Mayor of Haría, Víctor Robayna, describes the approved item as insufficient and recalls that “this port is one of the busiest in terms of passengers in the Canary Islands and a bridge to our eighth island. It required a greater investment to alleviate the needs of loading merchandise, which currently entails the transit of heavy vehicles through the main streets of Órzola, with the consequent collapse and neighborhood discomfort”, he states.

Hence the need to undertake the conditioning of the slipway and to bypass the main street towards the outside of the town “to decongest the main road of Órzola, avoiding noise and discomfort”.
