The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has appointed Luis Alvarado Martínez as insular director of European Affairs, Agenda 2030 and Economic Promotion.
The appointment took place on November 29 in the Governing Council and was published on December 13 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
The Lanzarote native is a graduate of the ULPGC, the College of Europe in Bruges and the London School of Economics. Thus, Alvarado chaired the Interdisciplinary Association of Students of Europe, also the European Youth Forum and worked at the Rockefeller Foundation, and was also chosen as one of the most talented young people in Spain in 2021.
Regarding the tourist saturation in Lanzarote, the new insular director stated two years ago in an interview with Ekonomus that the declaration of the island saturated by Dolores Corujo was "an accurate diagnosis" and that the solution "has to come from the hand of the public-private".
In addition, he pointed out that "we can take advantage of César's legacy to identify the next thousand César Manriques".
