The Councilor for Waste and Classified Activities of the Cabildo, Hugo Delgado, and the representative of Ecovidrio, Jorge Peña Peraza, presented this Monday the campaign 'Lanzarote recycles, and you?'.
The campaign will be in effect from this Monday until December 16 and will consist of posters, commercials, radio spots, press advertisements and actions on social networks.
The Councilor for Waste and Classified Activities highlighted that "the data is excellent and demonstrates awareness, responsibility and good civic education on the part of the population of Lanzarote." "We must continue along these lines to demonstrate, not only to our inhabitants but also to tourists, that our environment is important and that sustainability and care for the Environment is our priority. Only with our example, the idea will prosper and the person who comes to the island will internalize it," said the Councilor for Waste and Activity," he pointed out.
"In these times of pandemic we must be more united than ever. In the context of global warming and the search for ways to save resources and CO2 emissions, recycling helps us optimize resources. I am aware that at present our concern has shifted and focused on the health alert, but precisely at this time, climate change must be more than ever our immediate challenge and urgency," added Degado.
After showing four of the awareness campaign videos, the councilor indicated to those present that "Lanzarote is an example in energy efficiency and recycling measures." "Something that we achieve when there is true coordination between institutions and the population. This is achieved with this type of campaigns that add up, that motivate and that remind us that the care of our Island and the well-being of future generations depends on us, hence our objective of raising awareness through educational centers," he pointed out.
The representative of Ecovidrio, Jorge Peña, thanked the Cabildo for its willingness to carry out this campaign, as well as the population for the good recycling data. "We must bear in mind that Europe requires us to recycle 70% of the glass packaging placed on the market by 2025. Campaigns like this are an important help and example to achieve these objectives," he said.
