The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has joined the call of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) to concentrate and hold a minute of silence this Monday at 12:00 noon at the doors of the capital consistory.
This minute of silence has been called by the FEMP throughout Spain, on the occasion of the death in the line of duty of two civil guards who were fighting against drug trafficking in Barbate.
The concentration took place at 12:00 noon next to the Arrecife Town Hall building, and all citizens who wanted to show their support and solidarity with the families of the deceased civil guards and in recognition of the great work carried out by the members of the State Security Forces and Corps were summoned.
The event was attended by the mayor Yonathan de León, the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands - resident of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, the Councilor for Security and Emergencies of the City Council, Kevin Cortés, the Chief Commissioner of the National Police in Arrecife, José Luis Gutiérrez Redondo, the Chief Captain of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote, Armando Fernández Martínez, the Chief of the Local Police of Arrecife, José Antonio Lasso, councilors of the Government Group, municipal workers, citizens, and a representation of the agents of the Security Forces and Corps in Lanzarote (Local Police, National Police, and Civil Guard).
Mayor Yonathan de León stressed that Miguel Ángel González and David Pérez, the two civil guard officers murdered, defended the law and worked in the fight against drug trafficking. Arrecife, all of us present here today, "show our rejection of this heinous crime and recognize the great work carried out by the members of the State Security Forces and Corps.
