The island spokesperson for Lanzarote En Pie (LeP), Leticia Padilla, has denounced the incoherence of the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, with respect to two events that are being held during the day of this Wednesday, January 5, such as the celebration of the Ginory plenary session and the traditional Three Kings Parade, "which has generated numerous doubts that we would like her to clarify for democratic hygiene."

In this sense, the LEP spokesperson has stated that she does not understand "how it is possible that a plenary session of the importance that concerns us to debate the procedure for the payment of a millionaire compensation for the so-called 'Ginory plot' has to be telematic due to the Covid protocol, while that criterion will not prevent the celebration of a mass parade that we even doubt has sanitary authorization for its celebration."

Specifically, with regard to the extraordinary plenary session requested by the opposition to debate whether the payment of a millionaire compensation is appropriate after learning new data on the ownership of the space under discussion, Padilla stated that "beyond the subterfuge of convening the plenary session on the eve of Reyes to try to make it have the least possible significance, it will be held electronically when the health protocol allows the possibility of carrying it out in the plenary hall, something that the mayor seems to want to avoid at all costs."

On the other hand, the municipal spokesperson reiterated, "we also do not understand that the criterion used not to hold the plenary session in person due to the health situation imposed by Covid has not had any impact on the celebration of the Three Kings Parade, which will be held in the traditional way, without special security measures and without the possibility of controlling the crowds generated by an event of this magnitude."

From the municipal group of LEP in the capital city council it is clarified that "we are in favor of holding events of these characteristics as long as the health protocols are complied with and the safety of the attending public can be guaranteed. However, we regret that the government of Astrid Pérez has not had an alternative plan for the organization of the parade, as other municipalities on the island have done, and especially when the attending public is mostly children."

In this sense, the municipal spokesperson, Leticia Padilla, has highlighted the need to clarify issues such as the existence or not of a security plan for the celebration of the parade, if fences are going to be placed in the areas of passage of the delegation to avoid crowds and, above all, the reasons why the route of the parade has not been organized through the different neighborhoods of the city, thus avoiding the massive crowd of public that will involve what has been planned by the government group in which thousands of people will congregate in a relatively short route."
