The new vice president of the Government and Minister of Education, Universities and Sustainability of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Miguel Pérez, has made it clear that his priority is to end school failure, for which he will collaborate and cooperate with "teachers and parents in all the islands."
"The priority is to reduce school dropout rates, that no one is left out of the system and that young people find in the educational system an essential point in their educational career," he said after taking office at the headquarters of the Presidency of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Pérez, who focused his first words as a new member of the Executive chaired by Paulino Rivero on the educational area, said that "we want to move forward as soon as possible with the Education Plan for this year, and we hope that in October it will have passed through all hands, especially those who carry out the educational task in schools."
Regarding the composition of the cabinet formed by CC and PSC, the 'number two' of the Executive assured that "the new Government enters with all its strength and there will be no obstacle that stands in its way to face the problems of the Canary Islands and work with all the will and determination."
He also insisted, as he did after Rivero's investiture on July 5, that the priority lines of action of the Government of the Pact will be the fight against unemployment and economic growth.
"These are some objectives that from now on, without fail, we propose to face in order to give the best we have inside," he concluded.
