The Teguise Plenary has approved this Thursday in an extraordinary session the composition of the Local Government Board and the Corporation. The mayor, José Dimas Martín, of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote, has appointed Noelia Umpiérrez (PSOE) and Juan Jesús González (PIL) as First and Second Deputy Mayors.

During the session, the salaries, partial and exclusive dedications of the members of the Corporation have also been approved. Those councilors with exclusive dedication will have a salary of 3,500 euros gross per month, while those with partial dedication will receive 2,800 euros gross per month. For his part, the mayor, José Dimas Martín, will have a salary of 4,400 euros.

Of the councilors that make up the government group, only two, Isabel Martín and Eduardo Tarajano, will have a partial dedication. As for the amount that non-released councilors will receive for attending plenary sessions, it has been set at 180 euros per session.

Also, the different competences have been officially distributed among the councilors of the Corporation. As they had anticipated from the new government group, the mayor will take charge of the area of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Parks and Gardens, Cleaning of municipal and road units, Environment, Home and Commercial collection services, Municipal Kennel, Cemeteries, Parks, Works and Maintenance. The First Deputy Mayor, Noelia Umpiérrez, of the PSOE, will be in charge of Culture and Heritage, Tourism, Archives, Sociocultural Centers and Festivities. On the other hand, the Second Deputy Mayor, Juan Jesús González Docal, will carry the councilorship of Urbanism, Works and Infrastructures, Housing, Transport, and Classified Activities.

The areas of Local Police, Traffic, Civil Protection and Mobile Park will now be in charge of Eduardo Tarajano, while María del Mar Gopar will be councilor of Education, Discipline and Sanctions and Municipal Coordination.

From the Socialist Party, Francisco Reyes Delgado will carry Health, Social Services, Consumption, the Women's Area, Industry and Commerce, and Municipal Nurseries. Youth, Sports, Municipal Radio, Citizen Participation and New Technologies are in the hands of Víctor Barreto, and finally, María Isabel Martín has assumed the competences of Economy and Finance, Cadastral Management, Human Resources and Internal Affairs.

During the session, the periodicity of the plenary sessions has also been approved, which will be held every first Thursday of each odd month, at 1:00 p.m., in the Spínola Palace.

As for the representation of the mayoralty in Caleta de Sebo, this will continue in the hands of Margarita Páez, while that of Costa Teguise will be in the hands of Begoña Lafuente, both of the PIL.

Finally, the Plenary has appointed José Dimas Martín (PIL), María del Mar Gopar (PIL) and Begoña Umpiérrez (PSOE) as Representatives in the Board of Trustees of the Teaching of the Hotel School of Lanzarote.
