The Finance Councilor of San Bartolomé de Lanzarote until a few days ago, Javier Betancort, has joined the Canarian Center-CCN, the party for which he will lead the list in the next local elections after leaving the PP and resigning from his position as councilor on March 29.

Betancort Tubay, an economist who was born 31 years ago in San Bartolomé, left the PP after serious disagreements with the island's management, which in his opinion has been dividing the party in Lanzarote for two and a half years. After several conversations with the centrist leaders of Conejero, the former councilor decided to join the CCN.

Javier Betancort points out that he is joining the CCN because it is a party with which he identifies ideologically since he considers himself a centrist, moderate, tolerant and open to dialogue. "The CCN is the ideal platform to carry out the best management policy in the San Bartolomé City Council", a municipality of 20,000 inhabitants, of which 13,000 reside in Playa Honda, where he was also a delegate councilor.

The CCN candidate for mayor of San Bartolomé is going to form a list of prepared people and will be accompanied by people with a qualified technical profile to carry out the proposals of the centrist party in this municipality.

Betancort is very disappointed with the PP for its misguided policy in recent years, according to a statement. "The PP may be very important at the national level, but in Lanzarote it is the fourth or fifth political force and is not a reference for anyone." The centrist candidate has a master's degree in financial markets, has been director of a securities and stock exchange company and has worked in Madrid. The PP offered him the number two spot on the San Bartolomé City Council and the fifth spot on the Lanzarote Cabildo, but he rejected the offer.
