Becoming the "sole nationalist reference" is the vocation of the new ApL political project presented by the mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, who called for the unity of all parties. A unity for which Déniz considers "generosity" necessary to create a single project for Lanzarote.

"We don't want to look back, we want to move forward." This is how María Isabel Déniz expressed herself in her first speech as president of ApL, for whom her party represents "a new way of understanding the island's politics." Its pillars will be commitment to citizens, to the territory, and to the environment. She promised that each member of her party will have "their ear to the ground" to know what the people want and expressed her desire to be "the party of the citizens of the world."

The Gran Hotel de Arrecife was the setting chosen by the members of Asamblea por Lanzarote to acquire identity as a party in the celebration of its constituent congress. Throughout Saturday morning, the two hundred delegates and the members of the now-defunct Management Commission of the group debated and chose the ideological bases that will mark their political project.

After 1:00 p.m., the congress hall was packed with guests who were able to witness the election of the Island Executive Committee. Juan Pedro Hernández, mayor of Teguise and, from today, second vice president of ApL, was in charge of announcing one by one the new members of the leadership, led by its president María Isabel Déniz. The general secretariat of the party fell to Luciano Pérez Delgado (until now president of the ApL management) and Inés Rojas will be the first vice president.

Sergio Machín and Domigo Cejas will hold the first and second vice-secretariats of the party respectively. Manuel Pérez Gopar was elected secretary of Organization and Miguel Ángel Jiménez will be in charge of the Finance secretariat. The Communication area will be directed by Luis Arráez, current Minister of Finance of the Cabildo.

One by one, the candidates appeared on the stage before the attentive gaze of the numerous public that packed the hall, many of them without a seat. In the front row was the top leader of Coalición Canaria, Paulino Rivero, who traveled especially to Lanzarote for this event, demonstrating once again the ties that unite and can unite these two political formations.

The event also saw the Minister of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government, Manuel Fajardo Feo, and representatives of other political formations such as José Francisco Reyes, member of the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote and mayor of Yaiza, as well as representatives of the Popular Party, among whom were the councilors of the Cabildo Francisco Cabrera and Astrid Pérez.

To them, representatives of neighborhood groups and associations were added, as well as a large number of affiliates and supporters who made the auditorium of the Arrecife Gran Hotel small, in this launch of Asamblea por Lanzarote.
