The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed that Fernando Bañolas has visited the island of Lanzarote "once" since taking office three months ago. Although the Canarian agency ACN Press assured that he had not come on an official visit to the island, now the same agency indicates that on November 26 Bañolas accompanied the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, to the inauguration of the medical office of Puerto del Carmen (Tías).

This inauguration is the only visit that the counselor has made to the island of Lanzarote since his appointment at the end of October last year. After the inauguration he met with the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, several councilors of the Cabildo and other public officials.

The other two councilors appointed by Rivero on October 23, Jorge Rodríguez and Mar Julios, have not included Lanzarote in their agenda. Both the PSOE and the PP have stressed that the appointments are due to "electoral reasons rather than management" because all three are candidates in the next elections.
