The Public Works area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote continues to supervise the different interventions on roads and infrastructures that are carried out by the seven municipalities of the island.
Therefore, the vice president and head of the area, Jacobo Medina, recently traveled to the municipality of Haría to supervise the progress of the works in the municipality, in a meeting with the mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, the deputy mayor, Chaxiraxi Niz, and the councilors of Works and Finance, Ambrosio Viñoly and Celestino Socas.
"We are undertaking works that are transforming the municipality of Haría, both in roads and infrastructures, which were crying out for an urgent intervention," said Medina.
In this sense, the works of the Municipal Cooperation Plans (PCM) and those financed by FDCAN were reviewed. In the first case, the repaving of different streets of Máguez and Arrieta of the PCM 2020 has already been executed, and the partial conditioning of the CEIP San Juan is pending to begin to house the education of zero to three years. For this last intervention, the Cabildo allocates more than 400,000 euros.
In relation to the PCM 2021, the repaving works of the Arrieta school court, and the resurfacing of the roads near the La Tegala Sociocultural Center of Haría have already been executed. In addition, the Low Voltage conditioning for the CEIP San Juan has also been awarded.
"These works are for the use and enjoyment of the citizens of the municipality of Haría," says Medina, who stresses that for the PCM 2021 a sum close to 424,000 euros has been invested.
In the path of the reform of the sociocultural centers of the municipality, in the PCM 2022 (451,000 euros) the improvements and the change of pavement of the Punta Mujeres court were agreed, a work that is currently being executed. In addition, the resurfacing of San Juan street, at the entrance of the town of Haría, was also carried out, and the acquisition of urban furniture for children's games is pending to be tendered.
In this year 2023, the municipality of Haría has had an amount that reaches almost 276,000 euros, for two projects pending to be tendered: the maintenance and conservation of the marquee of the Ladislao Rodríguez Bonilla soccer field, in Haría; and the repaving of different streets of the town of Mala.
More than 1.7 million from FDCAN
The vice president and head of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, is also in charge of the distribution of the amounts from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), and in the case of Haría, which has enjoyed more than 1.7 million euros in the last three years.
Specifically, the renovation of the public lighting of the town of Mala (1.5 million euros) has been executed; and the transformation of the Máguez court is pending to be tendered for an amount that amounts to 110,000 euros.
Finally, there is a project under review for the complete renovation of the Mala court, for which a total amount of 91,976 euros is presumed.
"There are many works that we have reviewed and of which we are happy with the progress of the same," said Medina, who also extended a hand to the municipal leaders to include in the PCM 2024 those improvement projects that require funding.
