The government group of Haría has responded to the criticisms of the PSOE after the loss of a subsidy of 55,542 euros destined for a project for young people, and has done so by ensuring that the investment was finally executed, although with funds from the City Council itself, after having to return the money to the Government of the Canary Islands for not meeting the deadlines.

Although it recognizes the loss of that subsidy, the government group accuses the socialist spokesman, Alfredo Villalba, of "lying" with his statement, in which he denounced that the "passivity" of CC and the Municipal Platform of José Torres had led to having to return that money destined for young people.

In this regard, the City Council attributes it to the "breach of deadlines by the awarding company", but insists that the project 'Youth Spaces, Infrastructures to provide the population with specific spaces for youth', has been completed with municipal money.

The government group recalls that these funds were requested during Marciano Acuña's time in the Mayor's Office and were granted in October 2020, with Alfredo Villalba at the head of the Consistory, just before the motion of censure. The new government group points out that it ended up awarding the project on August 5, 2021, with an execution period of five weeks, but "it was paralyzed on August 31, 2021 due to supply problems of raw materials worldwide, which prevented the planned delivery deadlines from being met".

“Given the aforementioned supply problems, on September 1, the extension request was presented motivated by the difficulties expressed by the contractor. Thus, on September 14, we were notified of the extension of the term until November 26, which made the execution of the project totally unfeasible and, in view of the Council's refusal to grant a longer term, we had to renounce”, says the acting mayor, Víctor Robayna.

“The PSOE of Haría is once again lying by accusing the City Council of negligence, laziness or apathy. We have tried to execute the project until exhausting all possible solutions, leaving the resignation as the only option to avoid future sanctions and jeopardize the obtaining of future subsidies”, Robayna defended.

In addition, he insists that the Haría City Council executed the 'Youth Spaces' project with its own funds, and states that "for several weeks now the Socio-cultural Centers of the municipality have already been enabled to promote leisure activities for young people and for the northern population".
