Haría neighbor Guayarmina Sánchez Barreto wins the Homemade Nativity Scene Contest

The jury awarded three prizes, the second was awarded to Amanhuy Cabrera Betancort and the third was awarded to the Nativity scene of the C.E.I.P. San Juan

The Haría City Council held the Traditional Nativity Scene Contest last Thursday, December 26. This cultural initiative is part of the City Council's Christmas program, and its objective is to maintain the idiosyncrasy that characterizes this time of year and the traditions of Lanzarote.

The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, stressed the importance of holding this type of contest, "since they represent the union of the northern municipality and the conservation of our heritage."

For her part, the first deputy mayor of Haría, Evelia García, thanked all the people who joined this traditional contest for their participation and collaboration. "This annual meeting honors our roots," the councilor said.

The jury awarded three prizes. The first was for the Nativity scene of Guayarmina Sánchez Barreto, for its design and fidelity to tradition; the second was awarded to Amanhuy Cabrera Betancort, for its originality and creativity, and the third was awarded to the Nativity scene of the C.E.I.P. San Juan, represented by the teacher Jonás Lorenzo Fernández.

In addition, the jury decided to make a special mention to the Nativity scene of María Jesús Luzardo Hernández, which stood out for the care and detail with which it reflects the traditional portals, maintaining the cultural roots of our town.

The Haría City Council congratulates all the participants for their dedication and effort, as well as the people who make up the jury, since their work made the celebration of this contest possible.
