The mayor of Haría, Marci Acuña, and the deputy mayor, José Pérez Dorta, have attributed to a "hacking" the "invasive entry of negative results", which was registered "in a short period of time", during the popular consultation convened by the City Council to consult the residents about the acquisition of two houses in the municipality.
Although they have not explained how long the alleged "hacking" lasted, nor the number of negative votes that were received in that period, both assure that "the technician warned of a massive vote that did not correspond to the normal procedure".
"The act speaks of the little educational culture of who does it, but it is not very important, because it did not affect the final result", Pérez Dorta told La Voz. In total, 931 votes were cast through the Internet, of which 54 percent were positive. Meanwhile, in the ballot box enabled for in-person voting last Saturday, 70 votes were registered, of which 65 were in favor of the purchase of La Casa del Cura and Casa de Doña Natalia by the City Council. And this difference, in Pérez Dorta's opinion, reinforces the idea that there was a "hacking" in the telematic vote. "In any case," he defends, "the majority of the favorable vote came out" in one method and another.
Therefore, the councilman considers that this alleged "hacking" that they claim to have suffered "is not very important", since it was a "survey" that has the "reliability that each one wants to give it", so he does not see reasons "to investigate it".
For his part, the mayor of the municipality also agrees that for the City Council this hacking "was not too important". He has also corroborated that "there were very suspicious results" and although he has not been able to specify "in what sense", he has said that they occurred last Friday morning, five days after the consultation was opened. Despite this, they take it as "learning so that in the future we propose another more powerful software", since "they were a lot of votes" that, according to the technician, "were given from the same IP".
"If it had corresponded to the part of the physical vote in which identification was requested, it would have more importance, but we are talking about a survey," he says.
