The Teguise City Council has received administrative authorization from the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation after the request submitted in September 2020 for the occupation of the public maritime-terrestrial domain through the exploitation of seasonal services on several beaches in the municipality.

"We are therefore initiating the file for the concession of services and exploitation by third parties of the removable elements located on our coastline, which will include compliance with certain general considerations in favor of the protection and preservation of the marine environment, including its biodiversity, as well as the objective of preventing its deterioration," declared the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.

The new seasonal service on the beaches of the municipal district of Teguise, specifically on the beaches of Las Cucharas, El Jablillo and Bastián, is expected to include the installation of sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as buoy channels for bathers, buoyage for the entry and exit of nautical elements, lifeguard booths and information signs, "in order to cover the provision of seasonal services that are gradually being reactivated to respond to the tourist demand of a destination at the height of Costa Teguise and achieve optimal coexistence between residents and visitors."

"The technical team is already focused on initiating the contracting file to re-establish the service as soon as possible and thus satisfy the demands of the users of our coasts," said the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, after receiving the favorable report from the administrations concerned, ratifying "the commitment to the continuous improvement of the quality of our coast in all aspects, renewing awards that certify the quality from the environmental, tourist and sustainability point of view of the beaches."
