Florentina Alonso Betancor will be, starting this Thursday, the main person in charge of the Ministry of Education, Universities and Sustainability of the Government of the Canary Islands on the island of Lanzarote, occupying the island directorate of Education on the island, replacing Juan Ramón Pérez Borges, who has been carrying out the work of this position in recent months.
Juan Ramón Pérez Borges ceases in his position to occupy a place in the Educational Inspection service in Andalusia, after passing the tests of the last oppositions called in this matter from the Andalusian Government, as La Voz de Lanzarote had already advanced. From the Canary Islands Executive, those responsible for Education have congratulated Pérez Borges for his new position, also thanking him for "the outstanding work carried out in these months at the head of the island directorate in Lanzarote".
According to the Ministry of Education, Florentina Alonso has a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Design, from the University of La Laguna, and has worked in different areas related to education and culture. "Her teaching experience stands out, always holding the head of the Drawing Department, in the IES Islas Canarias (in Gran Canaria), Teguise and Las Salinas (in Lanzarote)", they add. In this last center, she was also the PROCAP coordinator from 2004 to 2007.
Between 1996 and 1998 she worked as a technician in the Culture department of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the island from which she originates. In recent years, she has also been a delegate of the FETE-UGT education union of Lanzarote, "a position from which she made a special effort in promoting the permanent training of teachers", according to the Ministry.
Florentina Alonso has indicated that she occupies this new task with the aim of "being useful to public education in Lanzarote".
