The Deputy Minister of Education and Universities of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gonzalo Marrero, inaugurated the Sports Hall of the IES Yaiza this Wednesday, with the presence of the general director of Centers and Educational Infrastructure, José Regalado, the mayor of the municipality of Yaiza, Ángel Domínguez, and the island director of Education in Lanzarote, Juan Cruz Sepúlveda
The IES Yaiza Sports Hall has had an investment of more than one million euros. This sports venue will be used for shared use, during non-school hours, between the town halls of Yaiza and Tías. Through an agreement with the southern commonwealth and the Government of the Canary Islands, both will be able to use the facilities to carry out sports activities for their students.
Subsequently, the Deputy Minister traveled to the municipality of Tías to inaugurate a self-supporting sports court at the CEIP Concepción Rodríguez Artiles, in Puerto del Carmen, whose cost has been more than 200,000 euros. The Ministry of Education has placed another four courts of these characteristics in other centers on the island, such as CEIP Playa Honda, CEIP Cesar Manrique and IES Zonzamas. These works exceed one million euros.
Gonzalo Marrero has also moved to the CEIP Uga (Yaiza), to check the expansion works carried out to provide the center with a children's classroom, which replaces a modular one. The Ministry's investment in said work amounts to 128,908.70 euros.
Finally, he went to Playa Blanca to supervise the expansion works of eight classrooms, to replace the modular ones that currently existed. This extension has been carried out in two heights.
