Ciudadanos (Cs) has demanded this Friday "the immediate resignation of the mayor of Yaiza and regional deputy for Nueva Canarias, Gladys Acuña (Unidos por Yaiza), for her conviction to 14 years of disqualification for a crime against land management and for prevarication in the 'Stratvs Case'.

This was demanded by the coordinator of the local group of Cs in Yaiza, Francisco Ramón, who has also asked the councilor of Unidos por Yaiza, José Antonio Rodríguez, to "also take a step back", since "justice has ruled that he also had responsibilities in this case", so much so that "he has been sentenced to seven years of disqualification".

Although an appeal is possible, Ramón has indicated that "there is already a first conviction", and in it "it is stated that both municipal leaders acted incorrectly in the case of the winery", hence their respective convictions for disqualification.

Therefore, and because "corruption has no place in any institution", Ciudadanos has demanded that the mayor and the councilor "resign as soon as possible", because "the residents of Yaiza deserve impeccable politicians who firmly believe in the fight against political corruption".

In this sense, the coordinator of the local group of Cs in Yaiza has recalled that for the formation "corruption is a red line", so he has assured that the formation "will continue fighting to combat it in the municipality, on the island and in the rest of Spain".
