Coalición Canaria valued this Friday the progress of the Government of the Canary Islands and the State to reach an agreement that imposes the distribution of minors arriving to the islands, as stated in the Canary Islands Agenda defended by the nationalists and signed by the socialists.

The National Secretary of Organization, David Toledo, recognized the "role of a Government of the Canary Islands" that “is facing alone the attention of more than 5,500 boys and girls and that "is fighting to ensure that the management of the migratory crisis is not exclusive to the gateway for people arriving from the African continent, but rather a State matter.”

Likewise, he stressed the need for “a way to be reached as soon as possible to guarantee these boys and girls not only the reception but also a life project.” David Toledo pointed out that the modification of the immigration law would allow “to alleviate the pressure on the network of reception resources in the islands.”

The nationalists demand, however, that the "processing of the legislative modification, which must be led by the Government of Spain, be carried out urgently" because “the situation in the Canary Islands has not only not changed, but may worsen with the arrival of more boats to the archipelago.”
