The Local Executive of Coalición Canaria in Yaiza regrets that the Cabildo of Lanzarote "continues to treat the residents of the south of the island as if they were second-class citizens", and urges the first institution to find the appropriate formula so that users of intercity public transport in the municipality can process their subsidized vouchers without having to travel to the capital every month.
"This is a demand that we have been making for a long time and all we have received so far is silence as an answer," emphasizes the local secretary, Mateo Ramón, after the meeting held this Monday, which was attended as a guest by the island secretary of CC Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín.
The nationalist leader "does not understand why the method has not already been established to prevent many young people, students, pensioners, people with disabilities, large families, unemployed, etcetera, from having to travel to Arrecife to renew or recharge the aforementioned transport card, and be able to benefit from the discounts established by the Transport Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote".
"We are aware that these special vouchers require presenting documentation that proves the right to the discount, what does not make sense is that this can only be done in Arrecife," laments Mateo Ramón.
"What we are asking is that the Cabildo find a way for our residents to prove that they are entitled to their vouchers in the Playa Blanca offices themselves. It does not make sense that everything is centralized in Arrecife," insists the local secretary of CC.
On the other hand, and within that neglect that the residents of the southern island suffer in transport issues, the local Executive of Coalición Canaria in Yaiza, requests the Cabildo to reinforce the service of lines such as the 60 (which connects Arrecife and Playa Blanca) during peak hours, to avoid waits of up to half an hour for users.
Similarly, Mateo Ramón regrets that, "despite the continuous demands of many affected residents and the complaints of Coalición Canaria, there are still towns in the south of the island such as El Golfo, Las Breñas, Playa Quemada or Femés that are still not part of the routes that connect the municipality with the capital and asks the Cabildo to study the way to create a line for these areas or to include them in one of the existing ones".
"It is unacceptable that there is only one line at 7 in the morning and that during the rest of the day, these towns remain totally disconnected," asserts the local secretary of the nationalists of Yaiza.
