The Lanzarote parliamentarians of the Canarian Coalition, Oswaldo Betancort, David de la Hoz and Jesús Machín Tavío have presented a total of "54 amendments that would improve by more than 30 million euros the projects included in the draft General Budget Law of the Autonomous Community for the year 2022 for the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
According to the party, this is "more than 30 million euros earmarked for specific works and projects and real needs in each and every one of the seven municipalities and La Graciosa", and not the 95.4 million "fictitious that the Government of the Canary Islands sells". CC claims that many of the items included in the document presented "respond to generic concepts", that is, "it is unknown which projects the funding is intended for".
"They wanted to sell that the budgets for 2022 have experienced a significant increase compared to those of 2021, going from 82 to 95 million, but what they don't say is all the investment that has not been executed. If they plan to continue on the same path, we are in bad shape," the parliamentarians said.
The nationalists propose the inclusion of "1.5 million euros for the creation of shade areas in schools and 100,000 euros for the Biosphere Reserve".
"There are many other important works to take into account so that the Canarian budgets are totally fair to our two islands and we are going to demand that this be the case," they add.
Proposals by municipalities
The Canarian Coalition drafted a series of projects for each of the municipalities and La Graciosa, such as "the drafting of the CEO Costa Teguise, with an item of 200,000 euros", or the drafting of the "Special Plan of the historical site of the Villa de Teguise, with 150,000 euros".
For the municipality of Tías, some of the proposals of the parliamentarians of the Nationalist Group are: "the commissioning of the Puerto del Carmen children's school, with 300,000 euros, and the roof of the CEIP Concepción Rodríguez Artiles with an item of 1,500,000 euros. They point out that for Yaiza they highlight "an aid of 300,000 euros for the maintenance of the camel as an autochthonous breed and 700,000 euros for the arrangement of the pavilion of the IES Yaiza".
The Canarian Coalition details that in Arrecife, the needs of hydraulic works "urgently require an item of two million euros", and for the Argana health center, "the nationalists consider that the item of 650,000 euros painted in the budgets is insufficient".
The party also points out that in Haría "an investment of 150,000 euros is needed in the project for the adaptation of infrastructures to accessibility and another 800,000 for the expansion of the health center".
San Bartolomé needs "500,000 euros for the beautification and rehabilitation of the industrial area of Playa Honda and 250,000 for the drafting of the irrigation project for the mountain area".
The nationalist parliamentarians detail that for Tinajo "an item of 150,000 euros stands out for the warehouse of equipment of La Santa and another of one million for the expansion of the gymnasium of the CEIP Virgen de Los Volcanes".
Finally, among the needs of the island of La Graciosa, Betancort, de la Hoz and Machín ask for "the inclusion in the document of an item of one million euros for interventions on the natural environment of the eighth island, in addition to 600,000 euros for improvements in the port".
