The Local Police of Arrecife has recently arrested J.Z.L.N., 19 years old, accused of leaving a motorcyclist seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred the day before and fleeing in the stolen vehicle he was driving.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured on the Rambla Medular de Arrecife when he was hit by a car. The car, after colliding, hurriedly left the scene, according to a statement from the Local Police. After that, they were able to verify that the vehicle involved in the accident "had a theft report filed by a vehicle rental company".

From that moment on, a police operation was initiated in order to locate the driver involved and the stolen vehicle. The arrest occurred the day after the accident, when the vehicle involved was located and intercepted by several police vehicles.

The agents proceeded to the immediate arrest of two people who were occupying the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, of legal age, tried to pass himself off as the brother of the co-pilot, a 16-year-old teenager, against whom there was an arrest warrant, since he had escaped from a closed juvenile detention center, specifically the Ciemi Valle Tabares of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The minor, after his arrest, was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor's Office for Minors.

After the investigation by the Accident Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife, it was possible to prove that the arrested driver had been responsible for the hit-and-run accident the day before, which is why he was charged with three crimes against road safety: reckless driving, driving without ever having obtained a driving license and leaving the scene of the accident, in addition to the theft of the motor vehicle.

For his part, the injured motorcyclist continues to date, recovering from several rib and clavicle fractures.
