Coalición Canaria de Arrecife proposes a motion for "the tender of the Urban Bus shelters to proceed, with the aim of guaranteeing zero cost for the institution, the maintenance of the same and replacement of the deteriorated ones", as stated in a press release.
The bus shelters of the urban public transport of Arrecife, traditionally, have not had economic cost for the City Council of Arrecife, since in exchange for putting advertising on them, companies in the sector put the shelters and carried out the maintenance, replacing the deteriorated ones.
Two years at the expense of the town hall
The company that carried out this management until the end of the last term, was released from the service for failing to comply with the contract it had with the municipality. The intention of the government group at the time was to re-tender said service.
After two years this procedure has not been carried out, which has resulted in the City Council spending 18,000 euros every six months for the maintenance of the shelters, which in total has amounted to more than 72,000 euros. Something that for CC "represents an unnecessary expense for the municipal coffers; in addition to the costs of shelters that have deteriorated and had to be changed, increasing the aforementioned figure considerably".
That is why Coalición Canaria, "sensitive to the needs of the municipality and economic savings, especially in matters that can be of zero cost to the institution", presents this motion.
