The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Cabildo of Lanzarote challenges the PSOE "to show all the permits and authorizations, if they have them, that supported the removal of two statues belonging to the Atlantic Museum last November, and stop with the smoke screens." According to the deputy spokesperson, Pedro San Ginés, "that is what they are doing by announcing now that they are going to audit the real number of statues that were submerged and the number of statues that were said to have been submerged."
San Ginés points out that as far as he has "knowledge, everything is in accordance with the contract and that the artist complied perfectly. The contract did not speak of the number of sculptures but of a number of installations (sets of sculptures) that was finally expanded. If they consider that this is not the case, I encourage them to continue with their usual practice of taking me to court."
Likewise, he assures that "the new maneuver of the PSOE is just another flight forward by the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, and the CEO of the CACT, Benjamín Perdomo, probably knowing that they never had the necessary permits to commit such an outrage."
"Proof of this is that, after the commitment in plenary by the president that she would deliver the file ("we will send it to you in writing without any problems," she said), the nationalists have been trying since last November 29 to know everything that happened and is still happening in relation to the sculptures of the Atlantic Museum, which were removed secretly at the end of November 2022, and to have access to the complete file on this matter, the only response to date being a mocking decree from the president, now referring us to request it from the CACT, which we already did," they criticize from the Nationalist Group
In two letters addressed to the president on November 29 and December 22 and in two others sent to the CEO on December 1 and 21, the Nationalist Group requested access to all reports (technical, legal, economic, etc.), relevant authorizations (Coasts, author of the work, etc.), emergency plans, the total detailed cost of the action and any other document in the file. However, "neither Dolores Corujo has provided us with what was promised in plenary, nor has Benjamín Perdomo complied with Corujo's decree, refusing to provide Samuel Martín, representative of the nationalists on the Board of Directors of the CACT, with the requested information," they point out.
Therefore, the Nationalist Group has decided this Tuesday, January 10, 2023, to address the Commissioner of Transparency and Access to Public Information, requesting their intervention "so that, as soon as possible, the requested information is delivered to them," they conclude.
